  • If your administrator account has no password (a blank password), you must give that user a password before using the sudo command. After you are done using the sudo command, you can change your account password again, although it is recommended that your administrator account have a non-blank password.
  • A better solution if you want to run something with sudo without putting in your password is to allow your user to do exactly that one command without password. Open sudoers file with sudo visudo and add the following line (obviously replace the username at the beginning and the command at the end).
  • Sudo password is the password that you put in the instalation of ubuntu/yours user password, if you don't have a password just click enter at all. Thats easy probaly you need to be an administrator user for using sudo.

The root password on OS X is disabled; it is not the same as your sudo password. Say sudo passwd root if you want to make a root password, then su will work as desired. However, make this password differ from your regular user password in the interest of security.
